The hottest craze in weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs and any other special event are mini food pairings. As their popularity has increased, catering companies are creating many options for clients to choose from. These mini menu items also add a “little” bit more “WOW” at your celebration.
The trend originally started as the last course ~ the desserts. Everyone likes a “little” bite of something sweet after dinner. Females, especially, will usually partake in anything “mini”. In the female world “mini” translates into less calories and the ability to sample more items when one cannot decide, and without the guilt.
Since little desserts are just the perfect bite, caterers decided that this works during cocktail hour just the same especially when paired up with a beverage ~ alcoholic and non. Guests tend to not fill up on these small samplings and are still able to enjoy the main course. However, they love the little choices and combinations. Besides, everyone loves the “cuteness” factor.
For example, one may choose fish tacos with Patron, cheeseburgers with Coca Cola or beer, spaghetti with Merlot, crispy clams with Bloody Marys, grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato juice… these super “small item” menus are getting BIGGER while everything BIG is getting smaller.
