The inspiration behind this Bat Mitzvah was our Guest of Honor’s roots. She may live in Parkland now, but this teen was raised a Jersey girl. So, it was obvious that we had to bring a bit of South Jersey to South Florida.
Once we made a game plan it was time to take it “down the shore”. We knew there was no one better than Galaxy Productions to make our vision to have a real live boardwalk take over Congregation Kol Tikvah. We wanted authenticity to play a major role in every detail from the décor all the way down to the piece of saltwater taffy on each place setting.
The cocktail hour was filled with boardwalk games including the infamous rollerball horse race. Other carnival-style games were the classic ring toss, wheel spin and skeeball. Game attendants dressed the part with logo t-shirts and aprons as they collected “Block Boardwalk” tickets and passed out tons of large stuffed and inflatable toys.
Upon entering the ballroom with their beach badge place cards, guests enjoyed the video mapping of scenic shore highlights. These included the amusement park and plenty of beach footage, which added the perfect ambiance to the space. Oversized “Jersey Girl” letters also completed the visual. Handmade moving Lego ferris wheels with blinking lights sat on saltwater taffy-filled cubes, and were showcased on custom made acrylic tables by Tali Table Designs.
Our Guest of Honor’s grand entrance was a “shore thing”. After her parents and brother entered the room, an incredible montage by Owen O’Malley was the perfect segway into the big reveal as the curtain dropped and our Jersey Girl was perched high upon a lifeguard chair.
MC David and his talented Pure Energy Entertainment team got this beach bash going with some crowd favorites as they battled on the dance floor. Guests were non-stop dancing while Senderey Video Productions and Munoz Photography captured all the picture perfect postcard moments.
The kids’ area was just like a day at the beach as teens sat underneath beach umbrellas on one side of the ballroom while sand sculptors were creating a masterpiece on the opposite side of the room. The massive bar, from Just Bars, contained about a hundred inflatable beach balls stuffed in the bar back. Also, on hand was the roller coaster ice luge which was definitely enjoyed by adult guests.
VIP Caterers had the perfect menu filled with boardwalk specialties such as Philly cheese steak, sausage and peppers, and a variety of fries, amongst other fabulicious offerings. If that was not enough, short ribs, angel hair pasta, onion ring towers and roasted broccoli were served family-style along with a chopped salad, and then served as the main course was Chicken Milanese topped with arugula, bruschetta and goat cheese.
Guests were instructed to save room for the never-ending desserts. The abundance of options was insane from fried twinkies and fried dough, to mini cannolis all the way to the Italian ice station. The night concluded with take-home treats of Bantham Bagels and WaWa Coffee (a special surprise for our Mitzvah Mom).
You can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can’t take Jersey out of the girl.
A party that feels like home always makes a STYLED EVENT.
Mazel Tov to Addie and her family!
