summer garden 6

A few weeks ago, we suggested giving your patio some panache and now with summer officially here, you can add to your outdoor space with a garden. Planting flowers, vegetables and herbs will add beauty, life, color and fragrance to any patio, deck or balcony. Believe it or not many annuals need full sun and some fruit trees thrive in warm climates. But if you’re not ready to get your hands dirty just go to your local home improvement store and buy ready grown potted ones.

(We won’t tell.)

Our most favorite things to have on hand for summer entertaining are heat loving herbs like basil, tarragon, thyme, sage and parsley. Not only are they great for recipes like gazpacho, but they make perfect garnishes and fun herb infused vodkas too. Serve them up at all your parties or give them as gifts. Wrap herbs in ribbon or create a special homemade infusion to bring the hostess. It certainly won’t be forgotten.
